Perfect Gift from Jesus – The Eucharist

My dear Friends, Praise to You Lord Jesus Christ – Our Bread of Life! I would like to congratulate Holy Cross staff and students for a job well done this year. Each one of us have shared our talents and abilities – our vocation to learn, to teach and to put into action the love that God gave us. It is what we do so well, to nurture, to care and to love our students and one another. As Christians,…

The Triune God In Action

My dear brothers and sisters,  All Praise and Glory to you Lord God!  Happy Father’s Day!  Our God the Father, is the best example of fatherly love in caring and understanding for us. May God bless all fathers and grandfathers as they continue to care for their families. Give them good health, wisdom and patience. And also give them strength, courage, and perseverance to do well in the task of parenting. This weekend we celebrate the Solemnity of the Holy…

Be With You Forever

My beloved brothers and sisters, Happy Pentecost Sunday! Happy Birthday Everyone! Pentecost, marks the descent of the Holy Spirit promised by Jesus, upon the disciples, empowering them to proclaim the Good News to the world. It reminds us also as His followers that we are called to be active participants in God’s mission, sharing the Gospel and making a difference in the world, guided by the Spirit of God. Perhaps we can reflect and meditate on these questions: · Is the…

Heaven Our Home

My dear friends, On this solemnity of the Ascension of the Lord, may you be uplifted by the hope and promise of Jesus’ Eternal Kingdom! As you know the month of May is dedicated to Mary, the Mother of God, a practice rooted in our Catholic faith. The Month of May, provides an opportunity for Catholics to deepen their devotion to Mary, by praying the rosary, and offering flowers at the altar in her honor. Jesus gave His mother –…

Our Love For Jesus

My dear brothers and sisters,  Jesus Is Forever Faithful! Alleluia! Alleluia!  My heart overflows with gratitude for the wonderful outpouring of love and kindness I received on my birthday. Thank you, for your heartfelt wishes, prayers, and gestures. Each message and prayer reminds me of how truly blessed I am to have such amazing people in my life. Your support and encouragement have been a source of joy and inspiration. May God bless you abundantly for your generosity and thoughtfulness.…

Love One Another as I Have Loved You

This is my commandment: “Love one another as I have loved you”, Jesus says in today’s gospel. On the face of it that appears to the one of the most beautiful things that has ever been said. Our first inclination is to give it a standing ovation. But for those who take it seriously, the primary impression is not beauty, but difficulty. Some might even go so far as to call is impossible. Jesus’ love was all inclusive. No one…

Habemus Papam

What a surprise it was to me to hear that the new Pope was from the United States. Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost became Pope Leo XIV. He is the 267th Bishop of Rome. He is also the first Augustinian Pope (meaning he was a religious priest like Pope Francis was a Jesuit priest, also religious). He was born in Chicago, his father is of French and Italian descent, and his mother of Spanish descent. He spent many years as a…

Selecting a New Pope

As you know the conclave begins on the 7th of May. By next Sunday we will have the name of the 267th Pope in the history of our church. I am very excited about the new Pope and who he will be. This is going to be the biggest conclave (133 cardinals attending) as two eligible cardinals will not be their on account of their health problems. When the conclave enters the Sistine Chapel to elect the successor to Peter’s…

Divine Mercy Sunday

Today we celebrate the Sunday of Divine Mercy. Too many of us are suspicious of mercy because we do not understand it. We pit mercy against justice. We think justice means holding people responsible, so mercy means not holding them responsible. No consequences! This is a perverse distortion both of mercy and of justice. Mercy is not opposed to justice. Properly understood, mercy promotes justice. When you see people suffering injustice, and you want to help them to see things…

Alleluia! Jesus is Risen!

My dear brothers and sisters, Jesus Christ is Risen! Alleluia! Alleluia! “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! By his great mercy He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead.” (1 Peter 1: 3) Now, Lent is over and it is time to celebrate the victory of Jesus over death. May the joy of Jesus’ Resurrection fill our hearts and urge us to share…
