Man of the Shroud Exhibition 2024

Man of the Shroud Exhibition 2024

St. Ann’s Parish in Penticton, BC hosted the Man of the Shroud Exhibition on April 4th – April 7th, 2024.  This Exhibition was regarding the Shroud of Turin, which is claimed by many to be the burial shroud of Jesus Christ.  The Shroud is, in fact, the single most studied artifact in human history.

The exhibition included a full sized 14-foot replica of the Shroud of Turin (referred to by some as the fifth Gospel) in addition to the five replicas of Our Lord’s Passion. The Shroud of Turin is the most researched and studied historical artifact in the world and this Exhibition was an in-depth examination of its historical and scientific aspects.

There are many websites that give a brief overview and history of the Shroud, such as www.manoftheshroud.org and the most comprehensive Shroud website in the world offers answers to most questions at www.shroud.com

Many Scholars from various Christian Denominations, other faiths and from no faith backgrounds have studied the Shroud, including Professor Gary Habermas (originator of the “minimal facts” argument for the resurrection).  Professor Habermas was featured in a recent documentary about the Shroud to be released in November 2023 called, The Shroud: Face to Face (https://www.theshroudfilm.com).

Father Andrew Dalton – Scholar of the Shroud of Turin

We were extremely fortunate to have Father Andrew Dalton, LC, a noted  scholar of the Shroud of Turin, attending as our lecturer. Fr. Dalton is a Catholic priest of the Legionaries of Christ and Professor of Theology at the Pontifical Athenaeum Regina Apostolorum in Rome. He teaches the Synoptic Gospels and Biblical Greek and Hebrew. Fr. Dalton obtained a Postgraduate Certificate in Shroud Studies in 2011, and became a board member of Othonia, an international center of investigation on the Shroud, in 2017. In 2018, he worked with Shroud experts all over the world to bring university level studies to the English-speaking world.  He is an exceptional Shroud Scholar who is comfortable presenting information about the facts pertaining to many of the over 13 disciplines involved in Shroud study.

Father Dalton also teaches the Biblical Theology of the Passion of the Christ for the Science and Faith Institute, which works in collaboration with the International Centre of Shroud Studies in Turin and the Giulio Ricci Diocesan Centre of Shroud Studies in Rome. He has lectured on the Shroud of Turin and the sufferings of Christ in different areas of the world, including China, Singapore, and the Philippines and has appeared on television in America and Italy.
