Every Child Matters T-Shirt

On March 9, 2023, the BC provincial government passed legislation to make September 30 a new statutory holiday. This new statutory holiday, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, will provide an opportunity to commemorate the history and legacy of the residential school system, and to honour survivors as well as those children who never made it home.

In 2022, Holy Cross School added an orange shirt to the required uniform list. This meaningful shirt was custom designed by Cody Lecoy, a Penticton Indian Band member and former Holy Cross student. Holy Cross students wear this piece of uniform on specific days throughout the school year including the school’s Honouring Indigenous Culture Day. These shirts are to remember and honour residential school survivors and to unite everyone at Holy Cross School in the belief that Every Child Matters.

There will be a school representative after each of the masses this weekend selling the shirts if you would like to purchase one for $20 cash. We will also have access to electronic payment with a Square device. Please contact Jessica Nattress if you have any questions at 250-486-6003 or jess1975@telus.net .
