Keep Your Lamps Burning

Keep Your Lamps Burning

My dear beloved brothers & sisters in Christ,

Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ!

The readings for this 32nd Sunday in Ordinary Time invite us to reflect on seeking God with sincere hearts, living with the hope of eternal life, and remaining prepared for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. As we also observe Remembrance Day, we remember with gratitude the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, peace, and future.

In the Book of Wisdom, we are reminded that divine Wisdom is radiant and unfading. She is readily found by those who seek her. God never abandons us; He continually offers His grace, guidance, and love. We are called to welcome His wisdom into our hearts and allow it to guide our daily lives.

Psalm 63 proclaims, “My soul thirsts for you, O Lord my God.” These words remind us that only God can satisfy the deepest longing of our hearts. In a world filled with distractions and uncertainties, may we remain faithful in prayer, the Eucharist, Scripture, and loving service to others.

In the second reading, St. Paul reminds us that we must not grieve without hope. Because Christ died and rose again, those who have died in Him will also share in His resurrection. As we remember our departed loved ones and honour those who gave their lives in service to others, may we find comfort in God’s promise of eternal life. Their sacrifice also challenges us to become instruments of peace, justice, and love.

In the Gospel, Jesus tells us the parable of the ten virgins. The wise ones brought extra oil for their lamps, while the foolish ones were unprepared. Their story reminds us that faith requires daily commitment. We cannot borrow another person’s faith or postpone our relationship with God.

My dear brothers and sisters, let us keep our lamps burning through prayer, forgiveness, compassion, and generous love. As we honour those who sacrificed their lives for peace, let us also live in a way that makes their sacrifice meaningful. May our lives shine with Christ’s light, and may we always be ready to welcome Him with joyful hearts. God bless you and your families. Amen.

God loves you!
