My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,
Praise to You, Lord Jesus!
As we celebrate All Saints’ Day on November 1 and All Souls’ Day on November 2, the Church invites us to reflect on the beauty of holiness, the power of prayer, and the promise of eternal life. These celebrations remind us that death does not end our relationship with God or the love we share with one another and in Christ, life is changed, not ended.
In the book of Revelation, St. John sees a great multitude from every nation, standing before God’s throne, clothed in white robes. They are those who have remained faithful through trials and have been cleansed by the blood of the Lamb. This vision reminds us that holiness is not reserved for a chosen few. It is God’s invitation to everyone who seeks His face and perseveres in faith.
The Psalm proclaims, “Lord, this is the company of those who seek your face.” Like the saints, we are called to seek God through prayer, humble service, forgiveness, and love. In 1 John 3:1-3, we are reminded of our greatest identity: we are children of God. This loving relationship gives us hope and inspires us to become more like Jesus each day.
In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus presents the Beatitudes as our pathway to holiness. The poor in spirit, the merciful, the peacemakers, and those who hunger for righteousness are blessed. The saints show us that holiness is possible in ordinary life through extraordinary love. We, too, can become saints by choosing kindness over anger, forgiveness over resentment, and generosity over selfishness.
As we remember our beloved departed on All Souls’ Day, we entrust them to God’s infinite mercy and offer our prayers for them. Our love continues through prayer, the Holy Mass, and the hope of reunion in God’s presence.
May these sacred celebrations strengthen our faith, comfort those who grieve, and inspire us to live holy lives. Let us remember that the saints encourage us, our departed remain in our prayers, and Christ walks with us every step of the way. May we always seek God’s face until we join the heavenly multitude in praising Him forever. Amen.
God loves you!
