Dear Alumni Families,

Holy Cross School Council, along with the Parent Support Group, would like to make you aware of three Scholarship Awards that are given out to students having completed their grade eight year at Holy Cross School.

PURPOSE OF THE HCS SCHOLARSHIPS

The Holy Cross School Council and Parent Support Group has established three scholarships to be awarded annually to students who attended, and finished, their Grade 8 year at Holy Cross School, and have graduated from Penticton Secondary, Princess Margaret Secondary or Summerland Secondary schools. Only one scholarship will be awarded for each school annually.

TERMS OF SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

Funds for the scholarships are provided by the HCS Council and the Parent Support Group. Each award will be $1000. The award is available for up to 18 months after winners are announced and is payable upon submission of proof of registration, and tuition payment, at an accredited post-secondary institution. Students must enroll in a full course load. If unable to enroll in a full time program a letter of explanation for review of a pro-rated award must be submitted to the HCS Council Chair. The award money is to be returned if a student withdraws from their program in the year of the award.

CRITERIA FOR APPLICANTS FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

Applicants will be required to provide the HCS Council Chair their academic achievements (including a copy of their high school transcript); their leadership skills; their church, community and /or youth involvement; their achievements in sports, performing arts, and/or debating; and their writing skills demonstrated by an application essay. Completed Applications Forms (found on the school website) and attachments are to be submitted electronically to the HCS Principal by July 15th, 2022.

SELECTION PROCESS

The HCS Council and Parent Support Group will establish a committee of three members of the parishes who will select the appropriate candidates for the awards. The selection committee will review all applicant submissions and consider character and citizenship as it relates to the church community. The communication of the selected applicants will be by the HCS Chair and Priests.
