Here is the commitment of Jesus to the work entrusted to him by our heavenly Father: to save the world from the evil promises of Satan. “This is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased.”
Here is a new communication between heaven and earth. Jesus will break the power of Satan’s kingdom of evil: broken families, lies, terrible temptations to sin, domestic violence, gambling, the tragic and sad inadequacy of drugs to help young people, wars, displacement of people and all other forms of despair. All we have to do to beat the devil is to stay with Jesus all our lives.
The Baptism of Jesus presents Jesus as anointed by the Holy Spirit. Now he is empowered and guided as Saviour of the world. At every Mass, Jesus wants to give us the Holy Spirit – blessing the whole Church with “every grace and blessing” – to become his disciples in building his kingdom every single day of our lives. Together in this work with Jesus we will see Satan falling from the sky. Everyone must be assured of the true way to a happy death.
