Running the Race of Life

St. Vincent de Paul Luncheon

Every First Sunday of the month, St. Vincent de Paul prepares lunch after 11am Mass for all parishioners. This is to raise money for the ministry to the poor in our community. Please come and enjoy lunch prepared with great love 🙂 Any donation received goes to St. Vincent de Paul. Since it is the day we have our family/Catechism Mass, our young families are welcome to the hall after Mass for luncheon. The Parish gives some money to St. Vincent de Paul to cover some of the cost of the meal. So, our young families don’t have to pay. This is part of the parish support for youth ministry in our parish. We remain grateful to our parishioners for supporting young families.

Proud Pastor 🙂

I had the opportunity to attend the Remembrance Day Ceremony on November 11. Holy Cross Students sang the National Anthem and Amazing Grace. They made us proud. I smiled and said to myself: ‘Our students are truly Ambassadors for Christ in the society. Thanks to the Principal, Mr. Campbell and Darlene Belanger for preparing them and being there with them.

Tonight, at the 6pm Mass (Family Night), these students will be recognized and honoured as Ambassadors for Christ.

Family Night: ‘Running the Race of Life’

The idea is this: Life is a race. We are all running to our eternal destination which is heaven. At the end of his life, St. Paul said: ‘I have finished the race; I’m now waiting for the crown of glory.’ During the month of November, we remember our deceased loved ones – those who have finished their earthly race and we pray and entrust them into the mercy of God. For us who are still alive, as we continue our race, we look forward in hope when we will see them again.

So, this month’s Family Night is meant to bring the lesson home to us – we are running a race towards God, towards heaven where we will meet our loved ones. Everyone is welcome event. It is not just for the young families. Grandmas and grandpas – everyone is welcome 🙂 ….. come and cheer your grandkids on. The event takes place in the hall. Those who can’t run, we have other games. Details on the front page of the bulletin.
