Fr. Marian
He’s been invited to Nelson to help Fr. Neil at the Cathedral. We are so grateful to him for his time here. He’ll come back in the near future to say all the weekend Masses so we’ll have an opportunity to say farewell to him.
Weekday Masses at St. Ann
The work at St. Ann’s Church is now concluded. Starting this week, we will resume our usual weekday Mass schedule (St. John Vianney: Tuesday and Wednesday; St. Ann’s: Thursday and Friday). Weekend Masses will continue as usual.
Thank you
Immense thanks to our parishioners who made it possible for us to do all the work through your generosity. Thank you to our interior decoration/ renovation committee led by Sylvia McGraw. Thanks to Riccardo Pellizzari for all the work he did: he constructed the Cross, the new platform for the Tabernacle, the two side altars and the new chairs. Thanks to Beverly Binfet for bringing in her interior decoration expertise. Thanks, too, to Agnes Sutherland, our hired interior designer.
When I asked Sylvia how long it took us to decide on the carpet, she said 9 months: long enough to carry a child in the womb. It all came out good.
Parish phase of the Synod
We gathered on Thursday, January 13 for our first consultation. About 26 people were in attendance. It was an enriching evening as people shared freely from their hearts. Everyone is welcome to attend. The next one will be held at St. Ann’s Church on Thursday, January 20th at 7pm.
The Synod is really an opportunity provided to us by our good Lord to reach out to people in need of help, in need of salvation. Ask the Lord in prayer to lead you to two people this week who need someone to listen to them, people for whom life has become difficult, a family member who no longer practices the faith. Be not afraid; let the Holy Spirit guide you.
Your brother,
Fr. Obi
