Last Saturday, we had our first Young Family Mass. It was nice to see many young families attend Mass and enjoy some pizza afterwards. How lovely it was to see children playing together in the hall and making friends in the house of God.
We also had our annual wreath-making event. It was a night of community building and preparing spiritually for the coming of Jesus this Christmas. I didn’t think I was going to get a hotdog but I even got two. 😊
What’s Ahead?
December 12: Christmas Carols and Festivals. See bulletin for details. Everyone is invited. No ticket needed. It is a worship night and vaccination status is not needed to attend.
St. Ann’s Church
The painting of the Church is concluded today (November 26). It looks beautiful. Thanks to the painters and all who helped to move things.
Weekday Masses will continue at St. John Vianney until December 10.
Installation of the new carpet will commence on December 6. Weekend Masses will be in the hall for the next two weeks. We hope to be back in the Church on December 11 and 12 (3rd Sunday of Advent – Gaudate Sunday – Sunday of joy: that is the Sunday the priest wears pink… did I say that? Or rose if you like. I’m still looking for a way to get the rose chasuble from Fr. Rex 😊)….. hopefully, on this day, with joy we shall celebrate in a brand new Church 😊
The new Crucifix has arrived from Sienna.
We got new candles that do not have wax. This will help us to protect our new carpet.
It has been a wonderful year for us as we invoked St. Joseph before every Mass. This weekend, we will stop saying the prayer to St. Joseph before Mass. We will start saying the Synod prayer.
Every Advent, I’m drawn to what Paul Simon said: “The thought that life could be better is woven indelibly in the human heart and brain.” The Season of Advent plants in us the seed of hope – the hope for a Messiah. It awakens in us our deep longing and yearning: for peace, for love, for that which will last.
I wish everyone a Grace-filled Advent Season!
Maranatha, come, Lord Jesus!
God love you! Happy Sunday!
Your brother, ~Fr. Obi
