Mass Schedule Changes for August 15/16

Mass Schedule Changes for August 15/16

Father Harry is away this weekend, so only Father Obi is available to celebrate Mass. This necessitates numerous changes to our Masses this weekend. Please read this important information.

The changes outlined in this post only applied to the weekend of August 15/16.

This is an extraordinary weekend. In order for Father Obi to stay within the requirements of Canon Law, we are combining and livestreaming Masses to allow as many of our pre-registered parishioners to attend Mass in person this weekend.

We are asking pre-registered parishioners to attend Mass (this weekend only) according to the modified schedule below:

  • 5:00 pm – Saturday – St. Ann’s Church: Celebrated as usual in the Church.
  • 5:00 pm – Saturday – St. Ann’s Hall: Mass from upstairs will be live streamed to the screen in the Hall. Communion will be brought to you by an Extra-ordinary Minister at the end of Mass.
  • 6:00 pm – Saturday – St. John’s: Parishioners from the 10:00 am Mass at St. Ann’s are invited to attend this Mass.
  • 9:00 am – Sunday – St. Ann’s: This Mass is merged with the St. John Vainney Mass. Parishioners pre-registered for this Mass are invited to attend the 9:00 am Mass at St. John’s or, alternatively, the 6:00 pm at St. Ann’s.
  • 9:00 am – Sunday – St. John’s: Parishioners from the 9:00 am Mass at St. Ann’s have been invited to come to this Mass.
  • 10:00 am – Sunday – St. Ann’s: This Mass is merged with the 6:00 pm St. John Mass on Saturday. Parishioners pre-registered for this Mass are invited to attend the Saturday 6:00 pm Mass at St. John’s or, alternatively, the Sunday 6:00 pm at St. Ann’s.
  • 11:00 am – Sunday – St. John’s: This Mass is merged with the St. Ann’s Mass. Parishioners pre-registered for this Mass are invited to attend the 11:00 am Mass at St. Ann’s or, alternatively, the 6:00 pm at St. Ann’s.
  • 11:00 am – Sunday – St Ann’s Church and Hall: Parishioners from the 11:00 am Mass at St. John’s have been invited to come to this Mass. This Mass will be celebrated in the Church and live streamed to the Hall. We will seat people in the Church first and, when capacity is reached, we will then sit people in the Hall. Communion will be brought to the Hall by an Extra-ordinary Minister at the end of Mass.
  • 6:00 pm – Sunday – St Ann’s Church and Hall: This Mass will be celebrated in the Church and live streamed to the Hall. We are adding the live stream into the Hall downstairs to accommodate parishioners from the cancelled Masses. We will seat people in the Church first and, when capacity is reached, we will then sit people in the Hall. Communion will be brought to the Hall by an Extra-ordinary Minister at the end of Mass.
  • 7:00 pm – Sunday – St Ann’s Hall: This Mass remains unchanged. It has limited seats available.

We understand that these changes may be confusing and disruptive. For clarity, those most impacted are:

  • 9:00 am St. Ann’s Church – Your Mass is merged with 9:00 am at St. John’s and you are being asked to attend Mass there. Alternatively, you could attend Sunday 6:00 pm at St. Ann’s.
  • 10:00 am at St. Ann’s Hall – Your Mass is merged with the Saturday 6:00 pm Mass at St. John’s and you are being asked to attend Mass there. Alternatively, you could attend Sunday 6:00 pm at St. Ann’s.
  • 11:00 am at St. John’s – Your Mass is merged with 11:00 am at St. Ann’s and you are being asked to attend Mass there. Alternatively, you could attend Sunday 6:00 pm at St. Ann’s.
  • All Other Masses – Please attend your regular Mass, but be aware that parishioners from other Masses will be attending. Also, to accommodate the additional parishioners using St. Ann’s Hall, you may be watching Mass by live stream on a screen with Communion afterwards.

If possible, please attend the recommended Mass for this weekend. We have no capacity for drop ins at other Masses other than the 7:00 pm Sunday Mass at St Ann’s Hall which has very limited seats available. We fully expect some of our Masses will reach capacity this weekend. It will be with sadness that we will not be able to admit anyone beyond those capacity limits.

Your assigned ticket grants you pre-registered admittance to the re-assigned Mass. Note, however, that the combined pre-registrations for the 9:00 am Masses and the 11:00 am Masses are currently over capacity. If ALL pre-registered parishioners attend then we would be over capacity.

We appreciate your kindness, patience and understanding as we do our best to bring all the parishioners of the Catholic Parishes of Penticton to worship this weekend. PLEASE ARRIVE EARLY to help our greeters get everyone checked-in prior to Mass beginning.
