Reopening the Churches?

Plans are ongoing for the reopening of our Churches. I have been meeting with my team as we look ahead and are slowly preparing and figuring out logistics for reopening. Stay tuned. We will inform everyone what the plans are once we hear from the Bishop.

Please read the Bishop’s letter below.

Letter from Bishop Gregory

His Excellency Gregory Bittman Bishop of Nelson

Dear Priests, Staff and Parishioners,

Greetings in the Lord! I hope this finds you well.

This week I have met with the Bishops of BC and Yukon, as well as the Consultors and Deans of the Diocese, to begin planning for the re-opening of our parishes for Mass and prayer. Since this needs to be done carefully and thoughtfully, parishes, parish offices and the Catholic Pastoral Centre will remain closed to the public until May 29th. I will update you again as the date draws near.

Information will be forthcoming about how we will accomplish this. We will need your generosity, cooperation and patience in order to do so. Besides myself, all of our priests are acutely aware of the need to begin celebrating our sacramental life again, and to gather as a community of Faith, albeit in limited numbers.

Please pray for us as we do for you. Although it will be a slow, step by step process, we will do whatever we can so that our communal Faith life may flourish once more. Please know that by following whatever restrictions remain in place, we are all striving to keep one another safe and healthy.

God bless you abundantly!

Gregory Bittman
Bishop of Nelson
