Rachel’s Vineyard, RCIA, and More

Dear Parishioners,

Rachel’s Vineyard: This weekend, I’m away for Rachel’s Vineyard Retreat. It is a retreat for healing the pain of abortion. In past years, these are some testimonies we received:

No words can explain the healing that I experienced on this weekend retreat. It was conducted with love and gentleness in an area of my life that was torn, raw, and bleeding. God’s mercy and love was behind this retreat. It was so important fir me to dig deep and release the pain of the past…

“It was the best weekend of my life. I was able to share my grief, my guilt, my anger. I was able to mourn the loss of my baby. But most importantly, I was able to believe that she now lives with Jesus. For a short time, I could almost touch her and hold her and see her. For this, I will always be grateful.”

Please pray for all who will be attending that they may experience the healing of Jesus. If you know of anyone who might benefit from this retreat, please phone 250 762 2273 or email: info@rachelsvineyardkelowna.com

The retreat is a confidential one; held each year, in the spring and fall.

RCIA: This year, we have five adults who will be baptized at the Easter Vigil. We also have some others who will receive Confirmation. Some grade 7 students will be baptized and receive First Holy Communion. We have children for Baptisms as well. It is going to be a Night of joy and glory for them, their families and our parishes. It is a journey they are making – not alone but we are journeying with them. Two weeks ago they had their Rite of Election. Their names are now inscribed in the Book of the Elect.

First Scrutiny: As part of their journey, this Sunday, they’ll have their first scrutiny during Mass at St. John Vianney. Next week, they’ll have their second Scrutiny during Mass at St. Ann’s at the 11am Mass. The third Scrutiny will be on March 26 at St. John Vianney Parish at 9am. The five Catechumens are from both parishes hence we are doing the scrutinizes in both parishes to enable both parishes to journey and pray with them.

Pilgrimage of Faith: The diocesan Pilgrimage of Faith Campaign has already begun. We are already receiving donations. We are grateful. Thank you. In the coming weeks, we will make a formal presentation to kick start our parish campaign.

Lent/Easter Reconciliation Service: This will be held in St. Ann’s on March 30. 6 priests will be coming. Please mark your calendar.

May we pray for one another this Lent in a special way that it may truly be a grace-filled Lent for us as we seek to rediscover the riches hidden in Christ and deepen our friendship with Him. May Jesus alone satisfy the deep thirst of our heart as we receive from Him at Mass this weekend that water that wells up unto eternal life: the water He promised to the Samaritan woman.

Jesus, You alone can satisfy! You alone can fill my emptiness! You alone can lead me to the beauty that is You! You have surprised me by your mercy and love. Help me to evangelize like the Samaritan woman – to let everyone know who You are.

Happy Sunday.

Your brother, Fr. Obi
