He is Not Here: He is Risen

He is Not Here: He is Risen

The Two Women: The Most Beautiful Surprise – With God, Nothing is Definitively Lost

Mary, the Mother of Jesus and Mary the woman from whom Jesus cast out seven demons. They both lost that which is most precious in their life. For one, it was a son. For the other it was one whom she called: ‘My Friend; My Master; My Lord’

The rolling of the stone at the tomb of Jesus signals finality, the end; it’s all over. But then came the early morning of Easter, Mary Magdalene goes to anoint his dead body. He is no longer there, He is Risen. Her friend, Master and Lord is alive! One can only imagine the joy of Mary. So much has been done for her by Jesus. She follows Him, loves Him even unto the grave-in death!

I often imagine Jesus going to His Mother on the day of the resurrection with these words: ‘Mom, I told you: I make all things new.’ My son is alive! He’ll never die again!

May the joy of these two women be our own also in our families this Easter. May we tell everyone through the witness of our lives that Jesus is alive. He’s the meaning and the joy of our lives!

Gratitude

On this Easter celebration, I would like to thank everyone in our parish for your faith in Jesus, for your loving and active participation in our parish and city, for the many ways you inspire and encourage me and others. Thank you.

Thank you to all who worked so hard to make our Holy Week and Easter celebrations a meaningful and beautiful one. Thanks to Melinda and Carla for giving your all and for your kind assistance to me.

To all our parishioners, thank you for the gifts you have shared, for the flowers, for making our parish a beautiful place where Jesus is encountered and loved, where hearts are warmed and the sick are healed and restored. I’m a happy pastor because of you.

Easter prayer from the Office: The Lord is Risen, Alleluia. We are thinking of you this Easter and praying for you. Jesus has conquered sin, Satan and death. Love has conquered. Goodness has triumphed. We have been saved. May the resurrection of Jesus bring to you and your family newness, joy, love and peace. May the Lord’s Easter blessings fall on your home like the gentle spring rain. We rejoice that Jesus desires to be our friend! You remain in our prayers. Please pray for us, too. We love you. Happy Easter. From all of us: Fr. Obi, Fr. Harry, Melinda & Carla.

Holy water: At the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday Masses, we will have bottled holy water for all our parishioners. If you already have a container, come and fill it with holy water. If you don’t have one, we’ll have a bottle of holy water for your family. By blessing our homes with Holy Water, we invite Jesus—our Risen Lord—to always be united with our family. We implore Him to protect us from days of crisis when love fails among us.

Happy Easter. The Lord is Risen, Alleluia, Alleluia.

Your brother,

Fr. Obi
