Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas celebrations.
There’s a little bit of confusion regarding Mass times especially Mass on January 1st. Permit me to throw more light on our schedule.
December 31 (New Year’s Eve – Friday)
5pm in St. Ann’s: Anticipatory Mass.
This is like our usual Saturday 5pm Mass. For those who usually attend 5pm Mass, they might prefer to attend this. Since January 1 is the Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, this Mass is an Anticipatory Mass for the Solemnity of Mary Mother of God.
11.30pm – 12.15am in St. Ann’s: Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament
The idea is to be in the presence of Jesus in prayer as we cross over from 2021 to 2022. We will have the time to review the year and prepare for the New Year.
January 1: Solemnity of Mary Mother of God
9am: St. John Vianney
11am: St. Ann
9am and 11am Masses are our usual New Year’s Masses. This is a Holy Day of Obligation, meaning it is treated like a Sunday.
5pm in St. Ann’s: Anticipatory Mass for Epiphany. This is the one that is really confusing. Someone asked: ‘Do I need to attend 5pm Mass when I have already attended Mass in the morning.’ The answer is ‘No.’ However, this 5pm Mass is a completely different Mass from New Year’s Day Mass. This Mass is for those who usually attend Saturday 5pm Mass. So, it is a weekend Mass: Epiphany.
January 2: Epiphany Sunday
9am: St. John Vianney
11am: St. Ann
6pm: St. Ann
