Holy Week Reflection: Good Wednesday

Holy Week Reflection: Good Wednesday

Our journey through Holy Week continues and we stand at the eve of Holy Thursday.

One of the Twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, “What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?” They paid him thirty pieces of silver.

Matthew 26:14-16

Today, as Easter approaches, perhaps we can go through our homes and discard those things that separate us from a personal friendship with Jesus.

What is my price for betrayal? Do I harbor ill will to a neighbour? When the opportunity arises, perhaps reach out with a forgiving heart. Has an argument or disagreement separated me from my family? In these difficult times we are experiencing the separation for our own families and our parish family. Perhaps this is the time to be creative and begin anew. Have I found a way to ignore Jesus’ call of love and forgiveness? Am I seeking opportunities to attend mass, receive the sacraments, lend a helping hand in our new virtual world?

Today would be the time to reflect on the price that Jesus paid for our salvation. Create a prayer corner, if you have not done so yet. Set aside a special place in your home where your crucifix, bible, rosary and other holy items that are special to you and your family become a focal point.

Today is a good day to receive Jesus into our hearts.
