Dear brothers & sisters, Happy Feast of Our Lady of Fatima!
Thank you so much for your prayers this week for our Priests Study Days at Seton House of Prayer in Kelowna. May you continue to pray for all the priests as we continue to serve our diocese.
I am sharing with you today about the history of Our Lady of Fatima.
TODAY IN HISTORY: THE LAST APPARITION OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA AND THE MIRACLE OF THE DANCING SUN
On 13 October 1917, heavy rain fell. The three young visionaries reached the place with their family members, then started to pray the Rosary. At noon, with the rain still falling, Lucia instructed the crowd to close their umbrellas, and the people obeyed. Moments later, things brightened and the people witnessed a white cloud moving around the group.
Lucia asked: “Who are you and what do you want from me?” This time, the Blessed Mother said she was the Lady of the Rosary. She urged repentance and wanted a chapel built in her honor in that place. She also told the young girl to remember to pray the rosary and disclosed that she would heal some of the sick present. The Lady ended by calling for conversion.
After that, she opened her hands, reflecting the sun. Lucia then cried and exclaimed: “Look at the sun!” The crowd gazed upward, and saw that thick clouds had opened. Suddenly, a silvery disc, the sun, emerged from behind clouds. It started to spin, change color, and danced in the sky as it slowly got nearer to the earth. The entire phenomenon lasted around 10 minutes.
Our Lady of Fatima, pray for us!
