2022 St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Campaign

2022 St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Hamper Campaign

TO ALL PARISHIONERS

Every year the parish community rallies behind Society of St. Vincent de Paul in their preparation and distribution of Christmas hampers. It is always a costly and rewarding undertaking. This year continues to add new concerns and uncertainly to every aspect of life…including our Christmas hamper program. This is the time when we start asking for your help with our Christmas Hamper Campaign. We would normally put out our Christmas Trees with gift tags. Instead of the tree tags, we request your help for food, cash, children’s toys, or gift cards to help us fill the Christmas hamper requests.

In lieu of the traditional hampers, our Society decided to offer Save-On Foods or IGA vouchers. This will allow the families to buy the items they require. We only pay Save-On Foods or IGA for the vouchers that individuals turn in.
We normally supply 350-360 hampers (approximately 190 singles and 166 families) and include $25.00 gifts for each child. In 2021, we supported 310 requests for hampers. We supplied gift cards for food and gifts for 520 adults and 295 children and teens. We have calculated that if an individual/family were to buy the food items we provide (including a small gift) it would cost $75.00 to $125.00 for an individual/couple and $200.00 to $225.00 for a family.

We are asking for your generous donation of money and/or gift cards. We will only be able to help as many individuals and families as our finances allow.

Your donation should be in an envelope clearly marked Society of St. Vincent de Paul and all cheques payable to Society of St. Vincent de Paul. If you require a receipt, include your name and address.

Toy donations for Christmas distribution will be accepted up to December 10th.

Your help may be needed with delivery of the vouchers. If you are willing to help, please contact Nella Todd 250-493-8944 or Sharon Snow 250-493-1208.
